Nice photo, nice background...but they have absolutely no relation to one another.

blackdragon: I did this totally as fantasy, and I didnt want it to look like your average angel picture. Therefore the pose is different. I agree that the wings should be bigger. That was the first time to paint in photoshop and I was a tad bit nervous about it. Thank you for your crit
wyslwyg: I wanted the contrast of a dark dress with a black background. I feel it makes the subject pop, and its also "unexpected". And, again in fantasy, what are the rules?
mozub: I had issues with blending, its one of my hurdles that needs jumping. Other than that why wouldnt they fit together? Again this is fantasy and up for interpretation, but not bounded by rules.
devoured: I agree completely hehe
nod423: Thank you for the information on ways to fix this

Sorry seems like like a copout excuse to me. Perhaps I should have been more specific and for that I apologize.
When I mean by 'no relation' is that you have two elements, of different color schemes interacting. In no way does the background (which is really cool btw) compliment the photo, or vice versa. The contrasting elements do not make the photo 'pop.' Instead it looks lifeless and flat because the background has more contrast and is way more intense. The background actually swallows up the photo.
In addition, while the wings are a nice notion...they are far too (for a lack of better term) cartoony to be placed on a photo. They look totally detached like a quick copy/paste job. Even if they were to be made of light or something, they just lack substance.
The 'rules' are not about subject matter (like the guy above me talking about wingspan...which I think was kinda corny
Plan your piece as a whole, seeing how each piece completes the puzzle so to speak.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, that is not my intent, but I am being honest...which is more than what you will get from some folks here who just click +10 on a pretty girl.
